A FILM BY MARCO CERVELLI
WAITING FOR BARDOT
ASPETTANDO LA BARDOT
PLOT
The characters in the movie are setting up a play, loosely based on the famous work “Waiting for Godot” by Samuel Beckett. Reinterpreting Beckett’s drama, the characters setting and private life seem to blend together, hoping that sooner or later Godot will come.
Growing up as “street performers” and ending up a few days away from the staging of the play that can sanction the success, or yet another defeat, and hinder the characters while, at the same time, their love plots risk undermining seriously their professional and personal future.
That is where the idea “Waiting for Bardot” is born, a brilliant/sentimental comedy revolving around the wait for a sign that can “light the path”, rather than giving credit to free will.
The anxiety of not being up to the task, the trouble expressing true feelings for the loved ones and the tragic assertion of having wasted part of their lives for nothing, represent the common theme that bounds together the lives of Massimo, Giorgio, Federica, Maria, Lucia e Paolo.
